Kingfisher aircraft’s emergency slide malfunctions

Mumbai, Sept 30 (PTI) Over 140 passengers and nine crew members on-board a Mumbai-bound Kingfisher airline experienced anxious moments today when the emergency slide of the aircraft opened outward.

The incident occurred when Kingfisher Airlines flight IT-304 from Delhi landed at the city airport here, a Kingfisher Airlines spokesperson said.

“After the aircraft came to a halt at its designated parking bay, the commander of the aircraft asked the crew to disarm all doors. While all other doors disarmed normally, it appears that the left rear door did not get fully disarmed and consequently the escape (emergency) slide got deployed,” the spokesperson said.

All passengers are safe and they de-planed normally from the forward exit via the aerobridge, the spokesperson said.

The maintenance crew replaced the escape slide and the aircraft has been pressed back into service, the spokesperson said.
